Situated at the crossroad of 4 counties (Vienne, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Deux-Sêvres), forming the Poitou-Charente.
Villefagnan is ideally situated: - 10 mins drive from main N.10 Paris-Bordeaux
 - 10 mins drive to Ruffec & its main station (daily return to Paris)
- 50 mins to Poitiers Airport
- 90 mins to La Rochelle (Atlantic coast)
This " living village" (home of my maternal ancestors), with its 1,200 inhabitants, is typical of a Charentais village: mellow limestone houses, Roman red roof tiles, a medieval church in its heart, all surrounded by sunflower fields. A lovely welcoming picture, especially in spring.
It is a "living village", as one can purchase most everyday goods at hand: - A goat cheese farm, an organic farm
- 2 supermarkets, 2 boulangeries, 2 butchers, several bars, 1 chemist,
- 2 hairdressers, a post office, 2 doctors surgeries, a lawyer's office, an estate agent and covered small market on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Enough to supply and keep its inhabitants happy. As for sports, the village prides itself with a tennis court, football and rugby pitches, and a riding school. Fishing also on our village lake.
It also prides itself with a working renovated 18th Century windmill, a lovely lake where one can enjoy a swim and a picnic.
"Le Logis Des Tours" the oldest building in the village is featured as a main popular postcard. Situated in La Rue Du Temple, near the 'Protestant Church' building... both are Listed Buildings.
Villefagnan and its surrounding hamlets are perfect for scenic walks with farmland, many flowers and numerous bird species. Peace and quiet are assured in this attractive rural heaven.
